She is a perfect embodiment of a fighter with a
never say never attitude. In fact, during the qualifier held in Imphal, she
showed an immense resilience, after her name did not make into the list of
participants on the grounds of her health condition. She had to convince the
committee officials to give her a chance to prove her brawn. And prove, she did
and more, when she flew past the red line the fastest. Her passion for sports
and athletics provides an elixir for her frail body. The grit and determination
this wonderful woman possesses is in itself a great power to reckon with.
Before being diagnosed with colon cancer four
years back, S. Sanahanbi Devi participated in the half marathon (21 kms) at the
Asian Veteran Sports Championship held in China and won the gold medal. She
also came fourth in (41 kms) full marathon held at the World Veteran
Championship Brisbane, Australia.
Hope this picture gives an inspiration to all the
cancer survivors, that Yes! We can!!
